Sahib

Some pieces begin with a melody. Others begin with a question. Sahib began with a single line from the great Sufi poet Kabir:

“Sahib mera ek hai.”
“My Master is One.”

It’s a deceptively simple phrase that speaks to something far beyond religion. Kabir’s poetry cuts through labels, divisions and identities, pointing instead towards a shared source, a universal truth that exists beneath them all. That idea became the heart of this piece.

I had the privilege of collaborating with the wonderful vocalist Suvarna Tiwari, whose voice carries both intimacy and immense power. Together we wanted to create something that felt timeless, where ancient words could exist naturally within a modern cinematic soundscape.

The music unfolds in layers of voices, sweeping strings and rich orchestration, woven together with intricate percussion that constantly shifts beneath the surface. There are moments of quiet reflection alongside moments of scale and momentum, allowing Kabir’s words to breathe while surrounding them with an expansive emotional landscape.

For me, Sahib is about unity. It is about remembering that beneath our differences there is something that connects us all. In a world that often feels increasingly fragmented, Kabir’s centuries old words remain remarkably relevant.

I hope this piece offers a few moments to pause, reflect and simply listen.

Thank you for being here, and I hope Sahib resonates with you as deeply as it has with us while creating it.
