I recently had the pleasure of composing the score for Guards at the Taj, currently on stage at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond. Crafting the music for this production was a fascinating process. Though the story is set in 1648 India, the score ventures into a modern, almost edgy realm, drawing from breakbeat and hip-hop to create a dark, subversive atmosphere. This choice allowed the music to complement the play’s unsettling themes in a way that feels both intense and resonant. I’m immensely proud of the result, and if you’re nearby, I highly recommend experiencing it live!
